I have stumbled upon dat protocol and it also has the ability to host data peer-to-peer. Theoretically, one could run a reddit-like web app and have all of its data decentralized there?
I don’t know much about dat, so I can’t really answer this question. I did do a cursory search on whether running Aether on this would be possible, but eventually ended up deciding to use my existing platform that is purpose built for it. Generally speaking, dat seems to be very complex, Aether tries to be very simple in the backend so that it uses fewer resources and the backend can run in environments like Raspberry Pis and so on.
But again - big disclaimer is that I do not know much about Dat outside my own cursory search as a potential backend.
